American pop singer Katy Perry first tried to break into the music business with a gospel album. She radically changed her image around the time of her 2008 cult single, "I Kissed a Girl," from One of the Boys, and topped the charts with subsequent albums Teenage Dream, Prism and Witness. Perry is also known for her performance at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015, and for being selected to be a judge on American Idol.

John Legend is a musician and songwriter who has worked with many artists including Alicia Keys, Twista, Janet Jackson and Kanye West. His first album, Get Lifted (2004), won three Grammy Awards. After two solo albums, he released a collaborative album with the Roots, Wake Up! In 2014,he received an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Grammy with Common for their song "Glory", and then an Emmy performance in Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert 2018.
